New six-packs available in attractive, environment-friendly packaging
HELENA, MT, July 19, 2006 - Lewis and Clark Brewery announced today that its Miner's Gold Hefeweizen is now available in 12-ounce glass bottles in the new, environment-friendly Brand Pak developed by ITW Hi-Cone, based outside Chicago. The brewery also said its flagship brands, Lewis and Clark Lager, Back Country Scottish Ale, Tumbleweed IPA and Yellowstone Beer will be sold in the new six-pack.
The Hi-Cone Brand Pak is a top-lift ring carrier with a wrap-around stretch band designed for four, six and eight packs of beer in glass bottles. The revolutionary multipack holds the bottles tightly in place so they don't bump against each other and risk breakage. The band also serves as a billboard for brand graphics and promotional messages that can be vividly seen by consumers on store shelves.
"This a unique and exciting package that is helping us launch Miner's Gold in bottles quicker and more economically than with paperboard carriers," said owner Max Pigman. "We also know our customers will appreciate the environmental benefits of the new package. It is a minimal design that generates far less waste than traditional paperboard carriers." Pigman added the package has other advantages that make it superior to basket carriers, not the least of which is beer bottles won't fall out of the waterproof band carrier, and a six pack can be chilled anywhere in ice without worrying about moisture damaging the package. "We already had the finest looking labels with the some of the best artwork in the industry, so it only made since to take this next step and upgrade the marketing power of our six-pack carriers as well."
Lewis & Clark Brewing was chosen to be the first Micro-Brewery in the country to launch this exciting new Brand Pak carrier which is photo-degradable and fully recyclable. Gary Maus (ITW National Account Manager for Breweries) says "We are very excited to partner with small and fast growing brewery like Lewis & Clark, their artwork really shows off the possibilities of this innovative new packaging vehicle and we look forward to helping them achieve incredible growth and differentiation in the marketplace.
Miner's Gold is brewed as an unfiltered Hefeweizen in American-wheat style and is very light and refreshing. The beer won a gold medal at the North American Brewers Association Brew Festival.
"The great explorers are the inspiration for our name and in many ways our brewing style," said Pigman. "Our goal is to produce the finest ales and lagers possible and serve them at their peak freshness. Our beers are hand-crafted and unpasteurized."
Pigman acquired the ten-year-old brewery in 2001 when it was called Sleeping Giant Brewing Company. He changed the name to Lewis and Clark to associate its beer brands more closely with it's location in Montana as the brewery is located in the only "Lewis & Clark County" in the United States.
